Art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, esp. as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values

-Dollar sign
-He uses Purple orange and yellow in this painting, but no specific color scheme.
-It isn't a typical way to represent money. mostly because of the colors he uses.

-Skull
-Red, Purple, and, Brown are used in this piece, but there is no specific color scheme used.
-Warhol didn't make many of his pieces traditional at all. he wasn't afraid to morph a picture to make it more interesting.

"Review Week 9"

Compare and contrast vector graphics and pixel images.
A vector graphic is typically constructed of lines, shapes, and curves whereas a pixel image is constructed of pixels. Vector files are scalable to any size but pixel files aren't because of the pixels.

"Steve Jobs"

Who is Steve Jobs?
He is the founder of apple.

What company was he CEO for many years?
Pixar

What did he do for the computer industry?
He brought us into the 20th century with the technology that he made. He was the first one to make the personal computer and he made a lot of the tools today that are in everyones everyday life.

How did this man impact the graphic design industry?
He made it possible for graphic designers to produce there work in more efficient ways and he made it easier to design.

"Review Week 8"

Why must designers pay close attention to how color is utilized within a composition?
Because they want the color to help portray whatever feeling they are going for with there project.

Why is the color wheel an important tool for graphic designers?
They color wheel helps the designer see what colors go well together and which ones help emphasize or tone down others.

Find an example of neutral colors utilized within a design (hint: google poster design). Near the sample, discuss why you feel the designer included neutral colors within the composition.


I think that they used the neutral colors to help put the focus more on the explosion in the middle.

Briefly describe how we "see" the color of an object.
We see color because the objects reflect and absorb colors, and the colors that we see are the ones that they reflect.

The object absorbs colors and reflects the colors that we see.

What is a glass prism?

A transparent triangular object that breaks white light into all the colors of the visible light spectrum

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet

Visual tool that shows the relationship between all colors

Colors that are mixed to make other colors, the base colors. Red, Yellow, Blue

Colors that are made when two primary colors are mixed. orange, green, violet

Colors that are made when a primary and a secondary color is mixed. red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet.

What are neutral colors? How can they be created?

Colors of very low saturation. By mixing complimentary colors.

How can a neutral color help a design?

Help put the focus on other colors or serve to tone down overpowering colors.

What are complementary colors? Name them?

Colors that are positioned opposite of each other on the color wheel. Red and Green, Orange and Blue, Yellow and Purple

What is color value?

The lightness or darkness of the color

A low-value color, adding black

What is a tint?

A high-value color, adding white.

What is saturation/intensity?

Brightness of a color

What happens when you mix complementary colors together?

Produces a dull tone

Pleases the eye, engages the viewer,creates a sense of order.
